Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Inspired by Mary Shelley's literary masterpiece published in 1818 and immortalised on screen by actor Boris Karloff in the 1931 film directed by James Whale, Frankenstein's Monster is one of the founding pillars of horror cinema. Brought to life by mad scientist Henry Frankenstein using electricity from a thunderstorm, this creature is assembled from tissue taken from corpses. A tragic character, misunderstood and rejected by society because of his terrifying appearance, the monster continually swings between childlike innocence and destructive violence. The design of this figurine faithfully reproduces the physical attributes laid down by make-up artist Jack Pierce, which have defined the collective imagery of this sacred monster over the decades.
