Character background and lore

Kane is one of the most recognisable characters in WWE history. Presented as the mysterious half-brother of The Undertaker, he made his spectacular debut in 1997 during the very first Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.

Accompanied by Paul Bearer, Kane appeared as an imposing, masked figure clad in red and black. His arrival was directly linked to a family feud with The Undertaker and marked the beginning of one of the most famous storylines in WWE history.

Over the years, Kane and The Undertaker have alternated between particularly violent clashes and alliances. When they fight together, they form the legendary Brothers of Destruction, a tag-team that went on to win tag-team championships and leave a lasting mark on WWE.

Kane is also known for his power-based fighting style. Among his most famous moves are the Chokeslam and the Tombstone Piledriver, two moves closely associated with the Brothers of Destruction.

Over the course of his very long career, the character has undergone numerous transformations. He has appeared wearing various masks, fought without a mask, and even took on a more administrative role for a time by becoming WWE’s Director of Operations.

He has faced numerous legends such as The Undertaker, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Edge, whilst winning several championships throughout his career.
