Origin and character background
In the 1951 feature film, the White Rabbit is the first extraordinary character young Alice encounters. Seeing him check his pocket watch and exclaim that he is late for a ‘very important appointment’ piques Alice’s curiosity, prompting her to follow him down his burrow. This specific version, with its trumpet, recalls its official role as herald to the formidable Queen of Hearts, charged with announcing Her Majesty’s arrival with loud blasts of the trumpet during the famous game of croquet.
