Character background and lore

Mutsumi Wakaba is a pupil at Tsukinomori Girls’ Academy and a particularly talented guitarist. She appears notably in BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! and goes on to play a central role in BanG Dream! Ave Mujica. The official website describes her as a rather reserved and quiet young girl, but one who is capable of showing consideration for others in her own way.

Before joining Ave Mujica, Mutsumi was a guitarist in the band CRYCHIC. She has also known Sakiko Togawa since childhood and is in the same class as Soyo Nagasaki. Music plays an important role in her life, as she has been playing the guitar since childhood and is truly talented on the instrument.

WithinAve Mujica, Mutsumi takes on the role of guitarist under the stage name Mortis. Her much more theatrical stage presence, combined with the mask and the band’s dark aesthetic, contrasts sharply with her reserved nature in everyday life.

This ‘Pajama Party’ version highlights precisely this contrast by presenting Mutsumi in a much calmer and more relaxed setting. It thus offers a complementary interpretation of the character, far removed from the dramatic and mysterious atmosphere of Ave Mujica.
