Character background and lore
Yoruichi Shihōin is a former captain of the 2nd Division of the Gotei 13. She also held the position of Supreme Commander of the Special Forces and was the 22nd head of the Shihōin clan, one of the four great noble families of Soul Society. The official Thousand-Year Blood War website also highlights her free-spirited nature and penchant for provocation.
Yoruichi is best known for her exceptional mastery of Hōhō, the art of moving at extremely high speeds. Her abilities have earned her the nickname ‘Flash Master Yoruichi’, and her fighting style relies heavily on mobility, close-quarters combat and extremely rapid techniques.
After leaving the Soul Society, she became a close ally of Kisuke Urahara and regularly lends her support to Ichigo and his companions. In *Thousand-Year Blood War*, she notably intervenes directly against Askin Nakk Le Vaar when he blocks the advance of Ichigo and his allies in Wahr Welt.
