Character origin and backstory (Lore)
Created in 1959 by John Broome and Gil Kane for DC Comics, the character of Green Lantern (played by the courageous test pilot Hal Jordan) is one of the pillars of the Justice League. Selected by a super-powerful alien ring following the crash of the warrior Abin Sur, Hal Jordan joins the Green Lantern Corps, an elite intergalactic police force created by the Guardians of the Universe on the planet Oa. Dividing the protection of the cosmos into 3,600 spatial sectors, these Emerald Knights patrol space to uphold order and justice.Green Lantern’s power comes exclusively from his power ring, an alien technology fuelled by the strength of his will. The ring enables its wearer to materialise anything their mind can conceive as solid green energy, from protective shields to complex mechanical structures, the only limit being their own concentration. This version from the New Classics range perfectly captures his iconic green and black costume, his vigilante mask and the lantern symbol on his chest, evoking the legacy and courage of the heroes of space.
