Former Green Lantern Sinestro joins Funko’s Pop! Heroes collection with this figure, numbered 651, inspired by DC Studios’ Lanterns series. Once regarded as one of the greatest protectors of the Green Lantern Corps, he is now a fallen figure whose relentless quest for order has gradually led him away from the light.

The figure depicts Sinestro in his characteristic appearance, recognisable by his red skin, black hair, moustache and stern features.

The character adopts the instantly recognisable style of Funko Pop! figures, with an oversized head, large black eyes and a compact silhouette. The sculpted details of the face and costume set this interpretation of Sinestro apart from previous comic-inspired versions.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Thaal Sinestro hails from the planet Korugar. He was once the Green Lantern tasked with protecting Space Sector 1417 and quickly gained a reputation as one of the Corps’ most effective members. His sense of discipline and his determination to maintain order earned him the long-standing admiration of his peers.

However, this efficiency masked increasingly authoritarian methods. Convinced that freedom inevitably led to chaos, Sinestro gradually transformed Korugar into a dictatorial regime and used his ring to subjugate his own people. He regarded this domination as a necessary sacrifice to ensure peace.

When the new recruit Hal Jordan discovered his practices, he alerted the Guardians of the Universe. Sinestro was subsequently expelled from the Green Lantern Corps, but this punishment did not cause him to abandon his convictions. On the contrary, he concluded that the Guardians were limiting the effectiveness of their own agents and that a new order must be imposed upon them.

Sinestro subsequently founded the Sinestro Corps, also known as the Yellow Lantern Corps. Its members harness the yellow energy of fear, as opposed to the green energy of will. Sinestro selects his recruits from among those capable of inspiring deep terror and regards fear as a more effective tool than hope or freedom for maintaining stability.

His relationship with Hal Jordan remains particularly complex. Sinestro was at once his mentor, his ally and his enemy. Despite their clashes, the two men share a deep understanding of the Green Lantern Corps and have at times been forced to cooperate against threats posing an even greater danger to the universe.

In *Lanterns*, Funko’s official description portrays Sinestro as a character who has fallen so far that his return to the light seems uncertain. This figurine thus represents one of the key symbols of the corruption of power in the Green Lantern universe: a former hero convinced that domination and fear are the only means of establishing lasting peace.
