Nightwing is the identity adopted by Dick Grayson after stepping down from the role of Robin. A former acrobat with the Flying Graysons circus, Dick was taken in by Bruce Wayne following the death of his parents and became Batman’s first partner.
In *The New Batman Adventures*, Dick moved away from his former role as Robin to become an independent vigilante. Under the name Nightwing, he retains his acrobatic skills, tactical acumen and mastery of combat, whilst establishing an identity distinct from that of Batman.
He nevertheless continues to work regularly alongside Batman, Batgirl and Robin, particularly when Gotham faces major threats.
