Origin and lore of the location
The Jurassic Park Visitor Centre is one of the main buildings in the park conceived by John Hammond on Isla Nublar. It is intended to serve as a welcome centre for future visitors and to showcase the main attractions as well as the scientific discoveries that made it possible to recreate the dinosaurs.
In the original film *Jurassic Park*, the building houses, amongst other things, the laboratory where visitors learn how the dinosaurs were created from ancient DNA, as well as the restaurant and the park’s main areas.
The Visitor Centre also becomes the setting for one of the film’s most famous scenes when Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Lex and Tim have to face off against two Velociraptors inside the building.
The fight culminates in the spectacular intervention of the Tyrannosaurus rex, which takes on the raptors beneath the large banner reading ‘When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth’. This sequence has helped to make the Visitor Centre one of the most iconic locations in the entire Jurassic Park franchise.
