Origin and world of the character
The character of Compsognathus (often nicknamed "Compy") comes from the cult film universe of Jurassic Park, initiated by Steven Spielberg and adapted from Michael Crichton's science fiction novels. Although only briefly seen in the first film, Compsognathus plays a memorable and terrifying role in the opening scene of the second film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). About the size of a chicken, this bipedal dinosaur from the Upper Jurassic era seems harmless in isolation. Its light venom and numerical superiority enable it to stalk and overwhelm much larger prey, perfectly embodying the idea that danger on Isla Sorna can come from the most unsuspected creatures.
