Complete your Disney Villains collection with this POP! Disney No. 1825 figure featuring Gaston, the arrogant hunter from Beauty and the Beast. Designed by Funko, this version depicts him holding the Beast’s magic mirror, just as he is trying to convince the villagers to march on the castle.

Gaston strikes a confident pose, legs apart and his right fist clenched in front of him. His thick, arched eyebrows give him a determined and menacing expression, whilst his long black hair is slicked back, just as it appears in the animated film.

The figurine features his iconic outfit, consisting of a red tunic with a yellow collar, a wide black belt with a gold buckle, dark trousers and high brown boots. His deliberately imposing build reflects the physical strength he constantly boasts about to the villagers.

In his left hand, Gaston holds the magic mirror from the Beast’s castle. The object is surrounded by a green frame with organic shapes, revealing the creature’s face on its surface. Small green scrolls carved around the mirror enhance its enchanted appearance and provide a striking contrast to the red and black colours of the outfit. 

This accessory is not merely a decorative element. In the film, Gaston uses the mirror to show the Beast to the villagers and to turn their fear into anger. Funko officially describes this version as depicting the hunter rallying the crowd before marching on the castle.

Character background and lore

Gaston is a hunter admired by most of the villagers. Strong, popular and convinced of his own superiority, he considers Belle to be the only young woman beautiful enough to become his wife. However, he takes no account of her wishes, her intelligence or her desire to discover the world.

When Belle refuses his marriage proposal, Gaston turns his humiliation into resentment. He first tries to force the young woman to accept his proposal by threatening to have her father Maurice, whom the villagers regard as an eccentric inventor, locked up.

Belle then uses the magic mirror to prove that her father was telling the truth about the Beast. Instead of acknowledging his mistake, Gaston sees the creature as a rival and a new opportunity to present himself as the village hero.

He seizes the mirror and shows the crowd the image of the Beast. By describing the creature as a threat likely to attack their families, he exploits the villagers’ fear and urges them to follow him to the castle armed with torches, pitchforks and weapons. This march on the castle is precisely the scene depicted in the official Funko figurine presentation.

Gaston finally confronts the Beast on the castle ramparts. Although his opponent spares his life, he attacks again from behind. His inability to renounce violence then brings about his own downfall.

The character thus embodies one of the film’s central themes: outward appearance does not necessarily reveal a person’s true nature. The Beast has a frightening appearance, but learns compassion and self-sacrifice, whilst Gaston hides a domineering, jealous and cruel temperament behind his attractive exterior. The Disney film specifically contrasts the sincere love between Belle and the Beast with this superficial view of beauty and heroism.

This POP! figure captures the moment when the popular hero’s mask is finally torn away. The mirror is no longer used to reveal the truth, but as a tool of manipulation designed to turn the crowd against an enemy whom Gaston refuses to understand.
