Recreate the debut of Spider-Man’s famous black suit with this Symbiote Spider-Man articulated figure from the Marvel Legends Maximum Series range. Designed by Hasbro, this 15 cm deluxe edition is inspired by the defining moment in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars No. 8, when Peter Parker discovers the alien entity on Battleworld that is destined to become the Venom symbiote.

The figure features the sleek design of the classic black suit, with a glossy finish and a large white spider emblem extending across the chest and back. The large white areas on the backs of the hands and the elongated eyes of the mask contrast sharply with the all-black silhouette, recreating the character’s iconic appearance in the comics.

This Maximum Series version features advanced articulation offering a wide range of movement in the head, torso, shoulders, arms and legs. This allows Spider-Man to be posed in a crouching position, mid-web-swing, crawling up a wall or in various combat poses. Hasbro has announced over 20 points of articulation, as well as a design specifically tailored for particularly dynamic displays.

The set includes 17 accessories to recreate various stages of the symbiote’s story. Spider-Man comes with, amongst other things, an unmasked Peter Parker head, a head with a removable spider-sense effect and several pairs of interchangeable hands. Narrative accessories round off the set, including strands of web, a rucksack, a manhole cover, a container holding the symbiote and a sonic device.

Presented in an open-top box that showcases the figure and its numerous accessories, this edition offers a particularly comprehensive representation of the Symbiote Spider-Man. It is aimed at collectors wishing to recreate the events of Secret Wars, the origin of Venom or various scenes from Marvel comics.

Character background and universe (Lore)

During the first Secret Wars, Spider-Man and several heroes and supervillains are transported by the Beyonder to an artificial planet called Battleworld. After his red and blue suit was damaged, Peter Parker used a mysterious alien machine that released a black substance which completely covered his body. He believed he had discovered a highly advanced suit, capable of generating its own webs and changing its appearance.

Back on Earth, Peter notices that the suit sometimes acts independently of his will and takes him into battle whilst he sleeps. He eventually discovers that the suit is a living alien organism seeking to form a permanent union with him. With the help of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man manages to separate himself from it by exploiting the symbiote’s vulnerability to sonic attacks.

Rejected by Peter, the creature develops a deep grudge against him. It then encounters Eddie Brock, a journalist who also holds Spider-Man responsible for his misfortunes. Their shared hatred leads to the birth of Venom, one of the hero’s most famous adversaries.

The accessories included with this figure directly reflect this story. The container evokes the discovery and captivity of the symbiote, whilst the sonic device serves as a reminder of its main weakness. The various heads, hands and webs, meanwhile, allow you to recreate both Peter discovering his new abilities and Spider-Man attempting to free himself from the influence of the black suit.
