Tsunade is a leading character in the Naruto manga and animated adaptation created by Masashi Kishimoto. The granddaughter of the First Hokage and a renowned expert in medical ninjutsu, she was part of the historic team made up of Jiraya and Orochimaru under the direction of Hiruzen Sarutobi. Together, they were named the 'Sannin' (the three Legendary Ninja) by Hanzo of the Salamander during the Second Great Ninja War, in recognition of their endurance and power. This particular variation captured Tsunade during this period of her fighting youth, long before she left military affairs and returned to Konoha to become the Fifth Hokage. The character is shown with her blond hair tied into two pigtails and wearing the traditional green fighting outfit of Konoha, while already sporting the purple diamond of the Seal of Renewed Creation on her forehead.
