At the centre of the globe, the Vogue Merry is depicted sailing over sculpted waves. The miniature features the ship’s key identifying features: its sheep’s head-shaped prow, its wooden hull, its masts and its sails. The hand-painted finish highlights the ship’s contours and the various shades of the maritime scene.

When the globe is shaken, fine, glittering particles swirl around the ship. This effect evokes the sea spray, the foam and the sometimes rough conditions encountered by Luffy and his crew during their early voyages. The transparent dome allows the miniature to be viewed from various angles.

The globe rests on a resin base sculpted to resemble a churning sea. Blue and white waves surround the base, whilst decorative elements inspired by the Straw Hat crew and the world of piracy complete the display. Origin and background of the ship (Lore)

The Vogue Merry, known as the Going Merry in the original version, is the first proper ship of Monkey D. Luffy’s crew. It was designed by Merry, Kaya’s butler, and then gifted to the young pirates following the events at Syrup Village.

Its sheep’s-head-shaped prow, light-coloured hull and large sail bearing the Straw Hat flag quickly made it one of the most recognisable symbols of the early days of One Piece. It accompanies Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji as they leave the East Blue and set sail on the perilous Grand Line.

On board the Vogue Merry, the crew traverse Reverse Mountain, face off against Baroque Works, reach the Kingdom of Alabasta and arrive at the celestial island of Skypiea. However, the ship sustains considerable damage during these voyages, often in conditions far exceeding those for which it was designed.

The care and affection shown to it by the crew enable the Merry to manifest a Klabautermann, a spirit associated with ships deeply loved by their sailors. This supernatural presence bears witness to the special bond that unites the ship with its passengers.

Despite its structure having become beyond repair, the Vogue Merry undertakes one final voyage to rescue the crew at Enies Lobby. Luffy and his companions then hold a funeral at sea for her, in a scene that confirms the ship had become a true member of their family.
