One-Punch Man — POP! Animation No. 2529 Garou with Chase variant
Add the fearsome hero hunter to your collection with this POP! Animation No. 2529 dedicated to Garou, one of the most dangerous fighters in the One-Punch Man universe. Designed by Funko, this figure comes with a random chance of receiving a Chase variant with red hair.
Garou strikes a low, dynamic fighting stance, with one knee close to the ground and an open hand held out in front of him. This posture reflects his mastery of martial arts and his ability to quickly analyse his opponents’ movements before turning their own strength against them.
The standard version features his long silver-grey hair, sculpted into numerous pointed strands that fan out upwards and backwards. His matching eyebrows are sharply arched, giving the character a focused and aggressive expression.
His outfit appears badly damaged from combat. Garou wears grey trousers held up by a fabric belt, dark shoes and several white bandages wrapped around his forearms. The torn edges of his clothing wrap round his torso and billow behind his shoulders, adding movement to the composition.
A grey, swirl-like effect appears behind him. This element may evoke the speed of his movements, the pressure generated by his martial arts techniques, or the energy that accompanies his gradual evolution during his battles.
The figure stands on a decorative brown and grey base, the lines of which converge beneath his feet. This base stabilises his crouching posture whilst giving the impression that Garou has just landed or is about to launch himself towards his opponent. The visuals provided by BEM’S confirm this stance, along with the bandages, torn clothing and silver hair of the standard version.
The Chase variant retains the same sculpt and outfit, but significantly transforms the character’s appearance. His hair turns orange-red, his eyebrows take on a dark red hue and his eyes are two different colours: one red and the other white. This version can be identified by the gold ‘Limited Edition Chase’ sticker on the box.

Character background and lore
Garou is a former disciple of Bang, also known as Silver Fang. He trained in Bang’s dojo and learnt the Rock-Shattering Water Fist, a martial art based on fluid movements that allow him to deflect attacks and turn an opponent’s force against them.
Despite his exceptional talent, Garou developed a deep hostility towards heroes. As a child, he identified more with the monsters who were invariably defeated in stories than with the popular heroes. He considered these confrontations to be unfair, with the crowd deciding in advance who should be admired and who should be eliminated.
This outlook drives him to want to become the embodiment of absolute evil – a threat so great that the whole of humanity would be forced to unite against him. His aim, therefore, is not merely to defeat the members of the Heroes’ Association: he seeks to overturn the traditional roles of hero and monster.
After attacking the other students at Bang’s dojo, he is expelled by his master. He then embarks on a full-scale hunt for heroes, facing fighters of various ranks in order to hone his techniques and prove his superiority.
Funko presents him as the ‘Human Monster’ and as a professional hero hunter capable of becoming a worthy opponent for Saitama.
Garou possesses a remarkable ability to adapt. He observes his opponents’ movements, habits and weaknesses in the heat of battle, then adjusts his strategy to neutralise them. The more he is injured or pushed to his limits, the more his resilience and abilities seem to evolve.
His journey has seen him face off against Metal Bat, Genos, Bang, Bomb and several groups of heroes. Even when surrounded or severely weakened, he generally refuses to give up and uses every confrontation as a new step in his development.
Garou, however, has a special bond with Tareo, a young boy who is often bullied by the other children. Despite his rhetoric about absolute evil, he regularly protects the child and is concerned for his safety. This behaviour reveals a fundamental contradiction: Garou claims to want to become a monster, yet retains a deeply protective instinct towards the vulnerable.
During the war against the Monster Association, his body and appearance begin to change. His injuries, exhaustion and successive transformations gradually blur the line between human and monster. VIZ describes this evolution as a ‘monsterisation’ that accelerates until it grants him transcendent power ahead of his clash with Saitama.
The red-haired ‘Chase’ variant evokes this transformation. It does not alter the figurine’s pose, but its more aggressive colour scheme and different eyes suggest a Garou closer to his monstrous form, following a series of battles that have profoundly altered his appearance.
Facing Saitama, Garou finally encounters an opponent he cannot overcome through adaptation alone. Their confrontation is not based solely on physical power: Saitama also forces him to consider the consequences of his choices and the feelings of Tareo, whom Garou claimed he wanted to protect.
This POP! figure thus depicts a character at a pivotal moment. His martial stance and torn clothing are reminiscent of the human fighter trained by Bang, whilst the red-haired Chase version heralds the hero hunter’s evolution into the ‘monster’ he so desperately seeks to become.
