Rilakkuma is depicted with his round silhouette, brown fur, light-coloured belly and yellow ears. Thanks to the various interchangeable parts, the figure can adopt several expressions and poses inspired by his particularly laid-back daily life.

Three faces are included: a standard expression, a face with an open mouth, and a sleeping or greedy expression with drool. Alternative legs also allow Rilakkuma to be posed in a sitting position.

Character background and universe

Rilakkuma is a character created by San-X. His name combines the Japanese terms for ‘relax’, pronounced ‘rirakkusu’, and ‘kuma’, meaning ‘bear’.

One day, he turns up at the flat of Kaoru, an office worker, and decides to make himself at home there. Despite his bear-like appearance, Rilakkuma is officially presented as a mysterious creature wearing a bear costume, with a visible zip down his back.

Rilakkuma spends most of his time relaxing, sleeping and eating. He is particularly fond of pancakes, rice omelettes, puddings and dango.

He shares Kaoru’s flat with Korilakkuma, a little white bear, and Kiiroitori, a serious and organised yellow bird. The latter is included with this Nendoroid so that scenes inspired by their daily lives can be recreated.
