SONIC - Bitty Pop Ride - Speed Star with Sonic

This boxed set from the Bitty Pop! Ride range combines a plastic miniature vehicle and its collectible micro-figure from the world of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise.

The set is a stylised reproduction of the famous racing car of Sega's mascot, the Speed Star. The miniature vehicle features the aerodynamic lines, streamlined headlights and blue, white and red colour scheme of the original racing car. The open cockpit features a fixed micro-figure of the anthropomorphic blue hedgehog Sonic at the wheel, with his characteristic pointed peaks and white gloves. The elements adopt the brand's super-deformed design, with proportions reduced to micro size.

The Speed Star is the custom sports car designed by genius inventor and mechanic Miles "Tails" Prower for his best friend Sonic. It made a landmark appearance in the racing game Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and then in Team Sonic Racing. Although the blue hedgehog is capable of racing at supersonic speeds far beyond that of the vehicle, he chooses to use this top-of-the-range sports car in official competitions to ensure fairness and respect for the rules against the other drivers in the racing universe. Equipped with an ultra-high-performance engine and an optimised propulsion system, this racing car has established itself as an iconic vehicle in games derived from the Sega saga.
