Sonic the Hedgehog is the protagonist of the eponymous video game franchise created by the Japanese company Sega in 1991. This anthropomorphic blue hedgehog is characterised by his ability to run at supersonic speeds and his enhanced physical reflexes. Travelling through different worlds to protect nature and his friends, Sonic uses his running skills and spinning jump (Spin Attack) to thwart the plans for world domination of the mad scientist, Dr Ivo ‘Eggman’ Robotnik, who captures animals to turn them into robots. The Pop! Plus range reimagines the character’s visual universe in a stylised form designed for collectors.
