The model consists of 117 plastic parts to be assembled. Once completed, it measures approximately 48.1 cm in length, 21.3 cm in width and 10.1 cm in height, offering a size large enough to showcase the characteristic proportions of the classic Enterprise.

The kit reproduces the ship’s main sections, including its wide saucer, secondary hull, forward deflector and two warp nacelles. The latter consist of several components and incorporate transparent parts to represent the Bussard collectors and various energy zones.

This traditional model kit requires precise assembly and painting. Revell rates it at difficulty level 3 and recommends it for model-makers aged 10 and over.

Origin and background of the starship (Lore)

The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 is the flagship of Star Trek: The Original Series. Under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, in 2265 it embarked on a five-year mission dedicated to the exploration of unknown regions of space, diplomatic encounters and scientific research.

The main crew includes Spock, first officer and chief scientist; Dr Leonard McCoy; Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott; Lieutenant Nyota Uhura; Helmsman Hikaru Sulu; and Navigator Pavel Chekov.

The Enterprise features the silhouette that has become iconic in Star Trek: a large saucer housing the main living and command areas, a secondary hull containing various technical facilities, and two nacelles enabling the ship to travel at faster-than-light speeds.

The bridge, situated at the top of the saucer, serves as the command centre. It is from this space that Kirk directs missions, makes tactical decisions and coordinates the ship’s various departments.

The warp nacelles generate the field required for faster-than-light travel, whilst the main deflector shield protects the Enterprise from particles and debris encountered during its high-speed journeys.

Although its mission is primarily a peaceful one, the ship is equipped with deflector shields, phasers and photon torpedoes. This equipment enables it to confront threats such as the Klingons, the Romulans, unknown space phenomena and various hostile life forms.

Above all, the Enterprise symbolises the fundamental values of Starfleet: exploration, cooperation between peoples, the diplomatic resolution of conflicts and the pursuit of new knowledge. 

This model recreates the ship’s classic appearance as popularised by the 1960s series, with its sleek saucer, circular deflector and long warp nacelles with red exhaust ports.
