ORIGIN AND BACKSTORY OF THE CHARACTER
Introduced by Nintendo in 1990 in theSuper Mario Worldvideo game for the Super Nintendo console, Wiggler (known asHana-chanin Japan) is an insectoid creature resembling a yellow caterpillar with a flower on top of its head. Usually peaceful and moving slowly through the forest areas of the Mushroom Kingdom, this character has a major biological quirk: if Mario jumps on it or attacks it without defeating it, Wiggler loses its flower, its body instantly turns bright red and it enters a state of rage, drastically increasing its movement speed to charge at the player. He appears regularly as an obstacle in platform games, as well as a selectable character or race track in theMario Kart series.
