History and background of the model
The character of Sam (short for Samhain) was created by director and screenwriter Michael Dougherty for the 2007 anthology film Trick 'r Treat. Depicted as a mysterious child wearing worn orange pyjamas and a burlap mask with buttons for eyes, he conceals an ancient demonic entity beneath this childlike appearance. Sam acts as the physical embodiment of Halloween, violently punishing those who break or ignore the night’s sacred traditions (such as extinguishing a jack-o’-lantern before midnight or refusing to give out sweets). Over the years, he has become a modern cult figure in horror cinema.Marketed by Funko, the ‘Doodles’ art variant reimagines the character’s aesthetic by covering his silhouette with printed graphic patterns, paying homage to the original illustrations and preparatory sketches.- *
