Sonic's origins
Sonic was created in 1991 by Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima and Hirokazu Yasuhara, and he first appeared on the Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive) console with the game "Sonic the Hedgehog". The author saw the little hedgehog as a fast character, full of courage and energy. He also put a lot of emphasis on his look to make him recognisable to everyone: red shoes, white gloves and a small blue crest reminiscent of the original animal's quills. He quickly made an impression on gamers around the world, even becoming the mascot for the SEGA brand.
A devastating concept
What quickly made Sonic's strength was also the basic game concept. It was disconcertingly simple but unwaveringly fun: Sonic must get from point A to point B in levels where enemies, traps and acrobatics follow one another. Similar to many video games, you may say! Characters from the Sonic universe
