Discover the One Year’s War from a decidedly military perspective with the Zeon Mobile Scout Set, the first model in Bandai Spirits’ U.C. Hard Graph range. Built to a scale of 1/35, this model set moves away from the gigantic Mobile Suits to highlight the soldiers, vehicles and equipment used by the ground forces of the Principality of Zeon.

At the heart of the set is the PVN.4/3 Wappa, a personal levitation vehicle used by Zeon for reconnaissance and patrol missions. Bandai has paid particular attention to its mechanical structure, featuring a detailed internal chassis, exposed propulsion components and numerous small parts designed to give it the appearance of a genuine military vehicle. Once assembled, the Wappa measures approximately 16 cm in length. Its 1/35 scale reproduction allows you to appreciate the details of its open cockpit, propulsion systems and armament. This scale also makes it easy to incorporate into a military diorama alongside the minifigures and accessories included in the set. 

The set includes two Zeon soldier figures, depicting Cuaran and Sol in their ground-based flight suits. Cuaran can be positioned at the controls of the Wappa, whilst Sol is depicted in an observation position. The various parts of the figures are moulded in several colours to make them easier to paint and to highlight the uniforms and equipment. Numerous accessories complete the scene, including binoculars with a tripod, adhesive explosive charges and handguns. This equipment makes it possible, in particular, to recreate the famous operation during which Cuaran’s reconnaissance unit attempts to neutralise the RX-78-2 Gundam by attaching explosives directly to its armour. 

Identification numbers, rank insignia, instruments and emblems are reproduced using water-slide decals, allowing for a much finer finish than simple stickers. Like the other models in the U.C. Hard Graph series, the kit is closer to a traditional military model kit than a modern Gunpla: glue is required to assemble certain parts. 

Painting is not essential for assembly, but applying washes, panel lining, weathering effects or dust allows you to make the most of the level of detail on the Wappa and the figures, and achieve a particularly realistic finish.

The PVN.4/3 Wappa is a small reconnaissance and patrol aircraft developed by the Principality of Zeon. Designed for a single pilot, it prioritises speed and manoeuvrability over protection or firepower. Its rotors enable it to take off vertically and hover above the ground, making it a particularly effective means of transport for reconnaissance and liaison missions during the One Year War. In the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, Cuaran and his men use their Wappas to launch a particularly daring attack on the RX-78-2 Gundam. Unable to compete directly with the Mobile Suit, they exploited the mobility of their vehicles to plant explosive charges at several points on the Gundam’s armour. This sequence perfectly illustrates the philosophy behind the U.C. Hard Graph range: to show that behind the gigantic Mobile Suits there are also ordinary soldiers, light vehicles and conventional military tactics.
