Released in 2024 under the direction of the directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Radio Silence), the horror thriller Abigail playfully reimagines the conventions of the monster movie. The plot follows a group of amateur criminals who kidnap a twelve-year-old ballerina, the daughter of a powerful local underworld boss. Taking refuge in an isolated mansion, the kidnappers think they simply have to wait for the ransom. However, they realise far too late that the girl is no ordinary victim, but a sadistic, ravenous thousand-year-old vampire. Combining the grace of classical dance with terrifying bloodthirsty ferocity, Abigail turns this night of captivity into a deadly and bloody treasure hunt, cementing her character as one of the most striking and original figures in contemporary horror.
