Character’s origin and universe

In *Gladiator*, Maximus is a respected Roman general loyal to Emperor Marcus Aurelius. When the emperor wishes to entrust him with the mission of restoring the Republic, his son Commodus seizes power and orders the execution of Maximus and his family.

After narrowly escaping death, Maximus is captured, enslaved and forced to fight as a gladiator. His military prowess and fighting skills gradually earn him the respect of his fellow gladiators and the admiration of the Roman people.

This figurine depicts the character in his prestigious general’s armour, before Commodus’s betrayal transformed the commander of the northern armies into a gladiator determined to avenge his family and fulfil Marcus Aurelius’s final wishes.
