Character background and universe (Lore)

Lord of Darkness, usually referred to simply as Darkness, is the main antagonist in the film *Legend*, directed by Ridley Scott and released in 1985. The character is portrayed on screen by Tim Curry, whose performance and spectacular make-up played a major part in making Darkness an iconic figure of 1980s fantasy cinema.

Darkness reigns over an underground world and seeks to impose eternal night upon the world. His plan relies in particular on the disappearance of the unicorns, creatures whose existence is linked to light and the balance of the kingdom. He also seeks to seduce and corrupt Princess Lili in order to lure her into his realm.

Standing against him is Jack, a young hero who sets out to save Lili and prevent Darkness from extinguishing the light once and for all. This clash between light and darkness lies at the heart of the story of Legend.

With his red face, imposing physique and, above all, his gigantic black horns, Darkness boasts one of the most recognisable creature designs in fantasy cinema. The POP!
