Character’s origin and universe

Ichigo Kurosaki is a secondary school pupil who has been able to see spirits since childhood. His life changes when he meets Rukia Kuchiki and is granted Shinigami powers to protect his family from a Hollow. He then becomes a substitute Shinigami tasked with defending the living and guiding souls to the Soul Society.

Through his battles, Ichigo develops abilities drawn from various spiritual lineages. In particular, he learns to master his Zanpakutō, Zangetsu, and faces off against Shinigami, Hollows, Arrancars and the Quincy of the Wandenreich.
