Kurumi Tokisaki is one of the most iconic and popular characters in the Date A Live light novels franchise, written by Kōshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, which has been successfully adapted into several seasons of animated series (including Date A Live V). The plot takes place in a world regularly hit by destructive "spacequakes" caused by the appearance of female deities from another dimension called "Spirits". To seal their powers and save humanity, young Shido Itsuka must succeed in seducing them and getting them to share a kiss. Among these entities, Kurumi Tokisaki, known by the code name "Nightmare", is presented as the most brutal and uncontrollable Spirit, having eliminated thousands of people. She manipulates time and shadows through her angel Zaphkiel, materialised by a giant clock face and antique-style pistols. Her left eye, which takes the form of a golden clock indicating her life expectancy, symbolises her fatal charm and dual personality, oscillating between polished Gothic elegance and exacerbated murderous madness.
