Character background and lore

Son Goku is a Saiyan who was sent to Earth whilst still a baby. Originally intended to conquer the planet, he lost his destructive instincts following an accident and grew up alongside Son Gohan, who taught him the basics of martial arts.

As an adult, Goku becomes one of Earth’s most powerful defenders. His constant desire to improve leads him to face ever more formidable opponents and to master several transformations capable of greatly increasing his power.

The Super Saiyan God form emerges when Goku must face Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7. Unable to compete with him in his usual transformed states, Goku takes part in a ritual during which five pure-hearted Saiyans transfer their energy to him.

This transformation alters his appearance in a more subtle way than the traditional Super Saiyan forms. His hair and eyes turn red, his figure appears slimmer, and his body is surrounded by a glowing red aura reminiscent of flames.

The Super Saiyan God form allows Goku to harness divine ki, a form of energy that cannot normally be perceived by ordinary fighters. This power significantly enhances his speed, stamina and ability to face beings from the realm of the gods.

Although the transformation achieved through the ritual is temporary, Goku subsequently learns to integrate this divine energy into his own power. This mastery paves the way for even more advanced forms, notably Super Saiyan Blue.
