Origin and character background (Lore)
Created by the famous mangaka Rumiko Takahashi in 1996, Inuyasha is a Hanyo (a being half-human, half-demon) living in Japan during the Sengoku period. Long rejected by both humans and full-blooded demons because of his hybrid nature, he initially sets out to seize the Shikon no Tama (the Four Souls Pearl) in order to become a pure-blooded demon. His path then crosses that of Kagome Higurashi, a young girl from the present who has been transported back in time, with whom he forms an alliance to seal and recover the scattered fragments of the sacred pearl.Behind his proud, impulsive and sometimes gruff demeanour, Inuyasha hides a strong sense of justice and a deep loyalty to his travelling companions.
