The Knights of the Zodiac. It was under this name, which today conveys a deep sense of nostalgia, that France was unknowingly introduced to what was to become the Saint Seiya phenomenon.

For those who discovered it when it was first broadcast on television in 1988, its animated adaptation is undeniably one of those that leaves its mark. Over and above the mythological context, the fascination engendered by the constellations and the charisma of the characters, who were able to captivate both male and female viewers, this cartoon never advocated gratuitous violence, but on the contrary advocated the noblest moral values. Transcended by a soundtrack conveying emotions of a rare intensity, the sincere sacrifices of these knights ready to do anything to serve their goddess had nothing to do with what the small screen was broadcasting at the time.

Over the last thirty years, Saint Seiya has not died. It has survived where so many others were born and died out, like stars. The constellation of Pegasus has grown as the man who made it shine has taken the risk of seeing it metamorphose in the hands of new generations of authors. How much longer will the Knights of the Zodiac be able to move us in the name of Athena's greatness? An entire book will not be enough to retrace this history and pay sincere tribute to her on behalf of all those who have never ceased to be passionate about this magnificent series.
