Origin and world of the character
The duo comes from the famous Disney Studios animated classic Lilo & Stitch, released in 2002 under the direction of Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Set on the picturesque island of Kauai, Hawaii, the story follows the daily life of Lilo, a lonely little orphan who is misunderstood by her peers because of her vivid imagination and eccentric passions. To overcome her loneliness, she makes her own Scrump, a little rag doll patched up to look like a homemade monster. The figure perfectly captures the film's cultural identity, representing Lilo during her traditional Hula lessons, a ritual Hawaiian dance that allows her to connect with the memories of her deceased parents and explore the fundamental values of "Ohana" - the sacred concept of family where no one should be abandoned or forgotten.
