Origin and background of the character
The White Rabbit is one of the most iconic characters and the catalyst for the adventure in the animated masterpiece*Alice in Wonderland*, released in 1951 by Walt Disney Studios and adapted from the novels by Lewis Carroll. Always dressed in his waistcoat and jacket and carrying his trusty giant pocket watch, this herald of the Queen of Hearts spends his time running about, repeating his famous line: ‘Late, late, I’ve got an appointment somewhere!’. It is whilst chasing him out of curiosity into his burrow that Alice tumbles through the looking-glass to explore an absurd and marvellous world. This “Sketched” version pays a vibrant tribute to the traditional illustration style and character design work of the artists from the golden age of Disney Studios, capturing all the energy and mischief of this extraordinary guide.
