Character background and lore
The Wolf Man is one of the iconic figures of classic horror cinema. The character is primarily associated with the 1941 film *The Wolf Man*, in which Lawrence Talbot falls victim to a curse that transforms him into a werewolf.
Portrayed on screen by Lon Chaney Jr., Talbot is a deeply tragic character, torn between his humanity and a monstrous nature he cannot control. This duality has played a major part in making the Wolf Man one of the most memorable incarnations of the werewolf myth in cinema.
Over the decades, the character has joined Frankenstein, Dracula, the Mummy and the Creature from the Black Lagoon among the most iconic monsters of Universal’s horror legacy.
