Pacific Rim – Pop! Super No. 2103 – Gipsy Danger Glow-in-the-Dark – Vinyl figure – 15.5 cm

Prepare to defend humanity against the Kaiju with this Pop! figurine Super No. 2103 of Gipsy Danger, designed by Funko. Inspired by the film Pacific Rim, this large-scale edition depicts the famous Mark-3 Jaeger in a Glow-in-the-Dark version, with certain parts that glow in the dark after being exposed to light.

Gipsy Danger retains its imposing blue and grey metallic armour, its head protected by a visor, and its distinctive central reactor. The robot is adapted to the stylised proportions of the Pop! collection, with a bulkier upper section and a simplified silhouette that nevertheless retains the key details of the machine as seen on screen.

The glow-in-the-dark feature particularly highlights the Jaeger’s energy zones. After sufficient exposure to a light source, these elements gradually glow in the dark.

Made from vinyl, the figure is presented in an illustrated window box bearing the number 2103. It can be kept in its packaging or displayed alongside other models from the Pacific Rim collection.

Origin and background of the model (Lore)

In the Pacific Rim universe, Jaegers are gigantic robots designed to battle the Kaiju, alien creatures emerging from an interdimensional rift at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. These machines are usually piloted by two Rangers who are mentally connected via the Drift, a system that allows them to share their memories and jointly control the robot’s movements.

Gipsy Danger is a third-generation American Jaeger built to defend the Alaskan coastline. It is initially piloted by brothers Raleigh and Yancy Becket, whose perfect synchronisation enables them to secure several victories against the Kaiju.

During a battle against Knifehead, Gipsy Danger is severely damaged and Yancy loses his life. Raleigh nevertheless manages the feat of piloting the machine alone for long enough to bring it back to shore.

Several years after this clash, Gipsy Danger is restored and modernised as part of the Pan Pacific Defence Corps’ latest offensive. Raleigh then resumes his role as pilot alongside Mako Mori, a young Ranger whose family fell victim to a Kaiju attack.

The Jaeger is equipped with plasma cannons integrated into its arms and retractable swords used in close-quarters combat. Its nuclear power source also allows it to operate independently of certain modern digital systems, a decisive advantage against electromagnetic attacks.

Gipsy Danger becomes one of humanity’s last hopes when the remaining operational Jaegers are sent to seal the breach once and for all. Legendary thus presents Raleigh and Mako at the controls of an old but legendary Jaeger, which has become the final line of defence against the apocalypse.

This super-glow-in-the-dark Pop! figure particularly highlights the reactor and the machine’s illuminated areas, evoking the energy visible through its armour during the film’s night-time battles.
