Discover a softer, more colourful take on the Desire Maiden Raider with this Megami Device Desire Maiden Raider Sugar Glaze model kit, designed by Kotobukiya. This variant retains the mechanical silhouette and imposing armament of the original model, whilst adopting a pastel colour scheme inspired by confectionery and sugary glazes.

The model is based on the Machinika Block2 articulated body, designed to reproduce a wide range of natural or dynamic poses. Once assembled, Desire Maiden Raider stands approximately 18 cm tall and can be displayed in a lightweight, armour-free configuration known as Unarmed Mode, or in a fully equipped Armed Mode.

Her design is characterised by long, interchangeable pigtails, a dark, leather-style outfit reimagined in pastel colours, high boots, and prominent mechanical parts that form a bat-inspired silhouette. The pigtails can be replaced with more compact buns to facilitate combat poses and prevent them from hindering movement.

The kit includes large mechanical wings and several sword-shaped weapons. The parts can be combined in various ways to alter the figure’s silhouette and create customised offensive configurations. A dedicated display stand is also included to stabilise aerial poses or positions utilising heavy weaponry.

This Sugar Glaze edition features three new pre-printed faces, illustrated by Amaai, as well as bonus parts from the sister unit, Desire Maiden Medic: an alternative chest piece and a nurse’s cap. These elements allow for further customisation of the model’s appearance once assembled.

Thanks to the standard 3 mm connection points, the kit is compatible with numerous parts and weapons from the M.S.G, Frame Arms, Frame Arms Girl, Hexa Gear, Sousai Shojo Teien, Arcanadea and Megalomaria ranges. The parts are moulded in multiple colours and the faces are pre-printed, resulting in a detailed finish without the need for painting, although experienced modellers may wish to apply additional finishing touches.

Origin and background of the collection (Lore)

Megami Device is an original range of model kits created by Kotobukiya. It features mechanical combatants known as Megami, designed to take part in simulated battles in which their owners can customise their appearance, weaponry and abilities.

Each Megami is based on an articulated body called Machinika, developed by Masaki Apsy. This system forms the common basis for the characters, whilst the armour, weapons and mechanical elements are created in collaboration with various guest illustrators and designers.

The range is designed with customisation in mind. The characters can be transformed from a relatively simple appearance to a heavily armed configuration, whilst standard connectors allow parts to be swapped between different models or with several other Kotobukiya collections.

Desire Maiden Raider is the first unit in a new branch of the Megami Device range developed around the Block2 bodies. Her design combines an outfit inspired by contemporary fashion with a prominent mechanical structure comprising wings and bladed weapons. The large parts positioned around the head and on the back give her a silhouette reminiscent of a bat.

The Sugar Glaze version reinterprets this aggressive look with a lighter, sweeter colour palette. The pastel colours create a contrast between the character’s delicate aesthetic and her massive combat gear, whilst retaining the original model’s key articulation and customisation options.

Parts taken from the Desire Maiden Medic also reinforce the link between the various units in this sub-series. They allow their visual identities to be combined and illustrate the central principle of Megami Device: creating a personalised fighter by freely mixing and matching bodies, armour, accessories and equipment.
