GIANT GORG - Carrier Vehicule - Plastic Model Kit Moderoid 23cm

Discover Giant Gorg’s Carrier Vehicle with this MODEROID Plastic Model Kit designed by Good Smile Company. Used as a mobile base of operations by the series’ protagonists, this imposing amphibious vehicle is being released for the first time in the MODEROID range. Once assembled, the model measures approximately 23 cm in length and faithfully reproduces its massive silhouette and heavy armament.

The vehicle rests on several wheels mounted on metal axles, allowing them to rotate, whilst the tyres are made of rubber. Its armament comprises a 175 mm gun and a 40 mm automatic cannon, both of which can be swivelled and have adjustable firing angles. A 12.7 mm heavy machine gun completes the armament and can also swivel. The hatches on the left and right sides of the vehicle can be opened.

The kit also includes two unpainted miniature figures depicting Captain and Dr Wave, to the same scale as the vehicle. The various parts are distributed across sprues moulded in several colours and supplemented by pre-painted components, allowing the Carrier Vehicle to be built with a relatively straightforward assembly process.

Origin and background of the Carrier Vehicle (Lore)

Giant Gorg is an animated series produced by Sunrise and directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, originally broadcast in 1984. The story follows thirteen-year-old Yuu Tagami, who travels to the mysterious island of Austral, which has appeared in the South Pacific. There he meets Gorg, a gigantic robot with whom he forms a special bond, whilst the powerful international organisation GAIL also attempts to unravel the island’s secrets.

The Carrier Vehicle is the large amphibious vehicle used by the protagonists as their base of operations whilst exploring Austral. Its design combines transport, protection and firepower, with several integrated weapon systems. It thus accompanies the group in an environment where travel and combat form a significant part of their progress across the island.

The inclusion of Captain and Dr Wave as miniature figures allows the vehicle to be placed directly within the context of the series. This MODEROID model also complements the 16.5 cm Gorg, sold separately, as the two models have been designed to be displayed together and to recreate the characters’ adventures on the island of Austral.
