Origin and world of the character (Lore)Introduced by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2016, Vaiana is the daughter of Chief Tui on the Polynesian island of Motunui. Appointed by the ocean to restore the heart of the goddess on the island of Te Fiti, she embarks on a sea quest to save her people from environmental corruption. Pua, her faithful pet pig, embodies her island ties and accompanies her throughout her youth on the island.
