Origin and character lore
Released in 1922 and directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, Nosferatu the Vampire (Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens) is an absolute masterpiece of silent cinema and a cornerstone of the German Expressionist movement. An unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s famous novel *Dracula* (which forced the production to change the names for copyright reasons), the film follows the journey of the young clerk Thomas Hutter to the mountains of Transylvania to meet a mysterious client, Count Orlok.Portrayed on screen by Max Schreck’s haunting performance, Count Orlok is a radical departure from the image of the aristocratic, seductive dandy later developed by Hollywood. Orlok is a creature of pure horror, a bald being with pointed ears, bulging eyes and prominent incisors resembling those of a rat, spreading plague and death in his wake. His graphic silhouette, cast as a shadow play along the walls, has become one of the most influential and imitated images in the history of horror cinema. This figurine captures, with undeniable artistic respect, the minimalist and terrifying essence of this iconic monster, establishing itself as a must-have piece for all discerning film buffs.
