THE HOBBIT - POP Movies N° 2185 - Bilbo Baggins

Meet Bilbo Baggins, the hero of *The Hobbit*, with this Funko POP! Movies figurine No. 2185. This new portrayal of the famous Hobbit is inspired by his journey alongside Thorin Oakenshield and his company to reclaim the Dwarf kingdom of Erebor. The vinyl figure stands approximately 9.7 cm tall.

The design captures Bilbo’s appearance during his adventure, with his curly brown hair, his bare feet – characteristic of Hobbits – and his travelling clothes in shades of blue, brown and purple. Several items of equipment complete his outfit, including the small chest referred to in the official name of this edition. The figure is adapted to the stylised proportions of the POP! range, with an oversized head and a simplified body.

Made from PVC/vinyl, this figurine joins the Funko collection dedicated to *The Hobbit*, alongside figures such as Azog the Desecrator. It is presented in the traditional POP! Movies display box No. 2185, which allows the figure to be displayed whilst remaining in its packaging.

Character background and lore

Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit living peacefully in Bag End, in the Shire. His quiet daily life is turned upside down when the wizard Gandalf the Grey takes him on an expedition alongside Thorin Oakenshield and thirteen Dwarves. Their aim is to reach the Lonely Mountain and reclaim the kingdom of Erebor, once conquered by the dragon Smaug. Bilbo is chosen to accompany the company as a burglar.

Initially reluctant to leave the comfort of his home, Bilbo gradually reveals a resourcefulness and courage he never knew he possessed. Whilst crossing the Misty Mountains, he becomes separated from his companions and encounters Gollum in the depths. It is on this occasion that he comes into possession of a mysterious ring capable of rendering its wearer invisible, though he is as yet unaware of its true significance for the fate of Middle-earth.

In the film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson, Bilbo is played primarily by Martin Freeman. His transformation from a homebody Hobbit into an adventurer capable of playing a vital role within Thorin’s company lies at the heart of *The Hobbit*. This POP! No. 2185 captures precisely this version of the character during his great journey to Erebor.
