Frank Castle is depicted in a combat stance, kitted out in clothing and protective gear suited to armed operations. His black silhouette is dominated by the famous skull emblem on his chest, the Punisher’s instantly recognisable symbol.

This version features a glow-in-the-dark effect. After being exposed to a light source, the Punisher’s logo glows in the dark. This phosphorescent effect accentuates the contrast between the character’s black outfit and his central emblem.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Frank Castle, alias the Punisher, is a former Marine who became a vigilante following the murder of his family. Unlike many Marvel heroes, he possesses no superpowers and relies on his military training, mastery of weapons, planning skills and combat experience.

Convinced that the traditional justice system is not always enough to stop the most dangerous criminals, Frank wages a personal war against mafia organisations, traffickers, assassins and corrupt groups. His extreme methods, which rely on lethal force, regularly bring him into conflict with the authorities and with heroes such as Daredevil and Spider-Man.

In the television adaptation starring Jon Bernthal, Frank Castle discovers that his family’s death is linked to a wider conspiracy involving his military past. His investigation pits him against Billy Russo, among others, and leads him to collaborate with former NSA analyst David Lieberman, nicknamed Micro.

The character is distinguished by a highly personal conception of justice. Whereas other heroes seek to apprehend their adversaries and hand them over to the authorities, the Punisher believes that certain criminals must be permanently neutralised.

His skull-shaped emblem serves both a symbolic and a tactical purpose. It represents the fear he wishes to instil in the criminal underworld, whilst drawing his enemies’ attention to the most heavily protected part of his kit.
