X-MEN'97 - POP Marvel N° 1609 - Sabretooth

Add one of Wolverine’s fiercest enemies to your collection with this Marvel POP! figure No. 1609 featuring Sabretooth. Inspired by the animated series X-Men ’97, this Funko creation depicts the powerful mutant in a crouched, aggressive stance, ready to pounce on his opponent.

Sabretooth is recognisable by his long, blonde hair swept back, his thick eyebrows and his exposed fangs. His face wears a wide, menacing grin, whilst his white eyes and brown mask accentuate his beast-like appearance. His right hand rests on the ground, fingers splayed and claws extended, as if he were bracing himself before launching an attack.

The figure features his iconic orange and brown outfit, consisting of a sleeveless jumpsuit, reinforced gloves, chunky boots and a light-coloured collar around his neck. The various textures sculpted onto the outfit and fur add further depth to the character whilst retaining the stylised proportions characteristic of POP! figures.

Made from vinyl, this figurine stands approximately 10.4 cm tall. It comes in an illustrated window box bearing the X-Men ’97 logo and the number 1609, allowing it to be displayed with or without its packaging. Funko presents this version as Sabretooth in pursuit of his arch-nemesis, Wolverine.

Character origin and backstory (Lore)

Victor Creed, better known as Sabretooth, is a mutant with animal-like physical abilities. He possesses strength, speed and senses far superior to those of an ordinary human, as well as claws, fangs and a powerful regenerative factor that allows him to heal quickly from many injuries.

Brutal and driven by his instincts, Sabretooth has worked as a mercenary and assassin for various organisations. Above all, he has a long-standing rivalry with Wolverine, with whom he shares several abilities, notably keen senses, claws and the ability to regenerate. Their clashes are among the most violent in the X-Men universe.

Sabretooth regularly seeks to prove that he is superior to Wolverine, both physically and psychologically. Unlike Logan, who tries to control his animal instincts and protect others, Victor Creed fully embraces his predatory nature. This contrast between two mutants with similar powers but radically different values lies at the heart of their rivalry.
