Archangel wears a dark suit combining midnight blue and magenta. His blue face, his blond hair swept back and the pink lines surrounding his eyes capture the key elements of his transformed appearance. His clenched fists and upright posture convey all the character’s power and determination.

The centrepiece of this figure is undoubtedly his pair of metallic wings. Composed of numerous rigid, overlapping feathers, they spread wide on either side of his silhouette, giving the figure a more imposing presence than that of a standard POP! figure. Their metallic grey finish contrasts with the bright colours of his costume and directly evokes the changes imposed by Apocalypse.

Character background and lore

Warren Worthington III is one of the founding members of the X-Men. Born with large, feathered wings, he first took the nameAngel and used his ability to fly to fight crime before joining Professor Xavier’s team. Coming from a wealthy family, he also put his resources at the service of the mutant cause.

After being seriously injured and losing his natural wings, Warren was approached by Apocalypse. The powerful mutant offered him new metallic wings in exchange for his allegiance. Physically and mentally transformed, Angel then became Archangel, the Horseman of Death, one of Apocalypse’s four servants.

His new wings are made up of sharp metal feathers which he can hurl at his enemies. This transformation amplifies his strength and combat abilities, but also leaves a deep psychological scar. Warren eventually manages to break free from Apocalypse’s control and rejoin the X-Men, whilst continuing to battle the dark side associated with his identity as Archangel.

In the X-Men ’97 universe, this appearance directly reflects his connection to Apocalypse and his status as one of the Four Horsemen. The figure thus highlights the former Angel’s darkest and most powerful transformation.
