Relive the decisive battle on Planet Namek with this Pop! Animation No. 2473 Son Goku – Frieza Saga figurine, designed by Funko. This edition depicts the Dragon Ball Z hero during the story arc in which he faces off against the galactic tyrant Frieza.

Goku is depicted in a dynamic fighting pose, wearing his famous orange and blue uniform. His black hair indicates that he is shown in his normal form, before or outside of his iconic transformation into a Super Saiyan. His determined expression and body posture evoke the battles fought on Namek.

The figurine features the characteristic style of the Pop! range, with an oversized head, large black eyes and a stylised body. Its slimmer design compared to some classic Pop! figures better captures the Saiyan fighter’s offensive stance and silhouette.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Son Goku is a Saiyan who was sent to Earth whilst still a baby. After losing his original mission following an accident, he is raised by Son Gohan and gradually becomes one of the planet’s greatest defenders.

Following the battle against Vegeta and Nappa, several of Goku’s allies die and the Earth’s Dragon Balls become unusable. Bulma, Krillin and Son Gohan then set off for the planet Namek to use the local Dragon Balls to resurrect their friends.

Meanwhile, Goku recovers from his injuries and travels to Namek aboard a specially fitted spaceship. He uses the journey to train under increasingly intense artificial gravity, significantly boosting his power.

Upon his arrival, he faces off against the members of the Ginyu Force, Frieza’s elite unit. His speed and strength take his opponents by surprise, but a body-swap caused by Captain Ginyu leaves him seriously injured.

After recovering in a medical tank, Goku rejoins the battle against Frieza. He first attempts to match him using his usual techniques, then unleashes a gigantic Genkidama fuelled by energy from Namek and neighbouring planets.

However, Frieza survives this attack and mortally wounds Piccolo before killing Krillin right before Goku’s eyes. The anger sparked by the death of his best friend then triggers Goku’s first transformation into a Super Saiyan.

In this legendary form, Goku gains enough power to face Freeza at his peak. Their duel gradually destroys the planet Namek and stands as one of the most significant battles in the entire Dragon Ball Z saga.

This Pop! No. 2473 depicts Goku during this major arc, before he develops the golden hair of a Super Saiyan, at a time when his training and determination already rank him amongst the most powerful warriors in the universe.
