Character background and universe (Lore)

Thragg is one of the central figures of the Viltrumite Empire in Invincible. He holds the rank of Grand Regent, ruling the Empire and pursuing its goal of expansion and domination across the galaxy. Funko describes the character as determined to eliminate individuals deemed weak, disloyal or traitors within Viltrumite society.

In Robert Kirkman’s comics, Thragg becomes a major adversary during the Viltrumite War. In particular, he launches a large-scale attack on Talescria, the base of the Coalition of Planets, before directly confronting Mark Grayson / Invincible. Their confrontation quickly takes on a decisive significance for the future of the Viltrumite Empire and the galaxy.

Thragg’s power ranks him amongst the series’ most formidable fighters. His battles extend far beyond his rivalry with Invincible: the comic notably features a particularly significant fight against Battle Beast, before Thragg assembles his own Viltrumite army and once again becomes a central threat during the final arc, *The End of All Things*.

The character makes his debut in the animated adaptation during Season 4 of *Invincible*, where he is voiced by Lee Pace. Prime Video presents him as one of this season’s major new antagonists, whilst Image Comics has marked his arrival on screen with a special reissue of the comic featuring his first appearance.
