Arataka Reigen is a central character in the manga and animated adaptation Mob Psycho 100, created by author ONE. He is the founder and owner of the "Spirits and Others" Consultancy Office, an agency specialising in exorcism and spiritual counselling. Despite his title of self-proclaimed medium, Reigen is in reality a charlatan devoid of the slightest ounce of psychic power, compensating for this with a keen sense of manipulation, theatrical charisma and excellent social psychology skills. He hires young Shigeo Kageyama (Mob), a truly super-powered esper, as a low-cost assistant to carry out the genuine purification tasks. Although he uses the teenager's genius to grow his business, Reigen acts as a true moral mentor, protecting Mob's emotional integrity and teaching him never to turn his destructive powers against others.
