Continue your journey into the Unknown with this POP! Animation figure No. 2546, featuring Greg, Wirt’s enthusiastic younger brother from the Cartoon Network miniseries *Over the Garden Wall*, also known in French as *La Forêt de l’Étrange*. Designed by Funko, it features several accessories that immediately bring to mind his boundless imagination and his adventures in the mysterious forest.

Greg is depicted with his usual smile and a particularly cheerful expression. His brown hair forms an uneven fringe across his forehead, whilst his little pink nose and open mouth convey the optimism with which he approaches even the most unsettling situations.

The most recognisable part of his outfit is the large grey teapot perched on his head. Its two handles extend out on either side like ears, reminiscent of the makeshift elephant costume Greg wore on the night of Halloween before he arrived in the Unknown. A beige stripe painted on the teapot adds a subtle variation to its metallic finish.

The figurine also features his green dungarees, worn over a pale green shirt with a dark collar. Small braces and a brown satchel cross his chest, whilst light-coloured socks and black shoes complete this simple outfit. His round, compact silhouette matches the character’s childlike design.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Over the Garden Wall is an animated mini-series created by Patrick McHale for Cartoon Network. It follows two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg, who are lost in a supernatural forest known as the Unknown. Their journey leads them to encounter talking animals, pumpkin-headed inhabitants and various figures whose intentions remain deliberately ambiguous.

Gregory, usually called Greg, is the younger of the two brothers. He is energetic, imaginative and almost always optimistic. Whereas Wirt analyses the dangers and hesitates before acting, Greg approaches even the strangest situations with curiosity and spontaneously seeks to befriend the people he meets.

His unusual outfit comes from a Halloween costume. Greg wears green dungarees and a teapot on his head to look like an elephant, whilst Wirt has put together his own costume from a conical hat and a cape. These outfits take on an almost folkloric appearance once the boys are plunged into the Unknown.

Greg takes in his frog before the journey begins. Unable to settle on a definitive name straight away, he renames it regularly according to his whims of the moment. The animal becomes a true travelling companion and even reveals an unexpected talent for singing when the brothers board a boat full of elegantly dressed frogs.

The painted stone is another recurring element in his world. Greg claims to have taken it from the garden of a certain Mrs Daniel and regularly presents his ‘Rock Facts’ – whimsical facts about stones, grapes or dinosaurs. At the end of the story, however, he returns the object to its owner, symbolically bringing their adventure to a close.

Behind his comical behaviour, Greg plays a vital role in the two brothers’ journey. His spontaneous trust often helps them secure assistance in situations where Wirt’s suspicious attitude would have led to conflict. His imagination also transforms threatening situations into games, songs or adventures that are easier to face.

His optimism, however, is not synonymous with complete recklessness. When Wirt begins to lose hope, Greg agrees to sacrifice himself to protect his brother. He strikes a deal with the Beast and finds himself gradually immobilised by the branches of an Edelwood tree.

Wirt then realises that he must stop letting fear guide his choices. He confronts the Beast, discovers the secret of the lantern and manages to save Greg. Their brotherly bond thus becomes the true heart of the series: the younger brother’s imagination and trust inspire the older brother to rediscover his courage, whilst Wirt’s final determination enables both boys to return home.

This Funko figurine brings together Greg’s three most iconic items: his teapot worn as a hat, his faithful frog and his little painted stone. The set perfectly captures his way of transforming every ordinary object into a companion, a costume or the inspiration for a new story.
