Kiiroitori (which literally means "yellow bird" in Japanese) is a fictional character from the world of Rilakkuma, created by designer Aki Kondo for the San-X company. Unlike the teddy bears in the licence who have taken up residence unexpectedly, Kiiroitori is the original pet canary of young employee Kaoru. Evolving as a rational, down-to-earth figure in the household, he spends much of his time cleaning the house, tidying up spaces and gently chastising Rilakkuma for his constant laziness. Thrifty and hard-working, he loves collecting the small coins he finds on the floor while sweeping up. His presence provides a comical and pragmatic counterpoint to the relaxed daily lives of the other mascots.
