Welcome one of the most secret characters from Sumikko Gurashi with this POP! Animation No. 2486 figurine dedicated to Tokage. Designed by Funko, it brings the little blue creature to life in the rounded, minimalist style of the POP! collection, whilst retaining the gentle appearance created by San-X.

Tokage is depicted standing upright with his light blue body, cream-coloured belly and small purple fins running along his back. His compact silhouette, short legs and understated expression faithfully capture the simple lines that characterise the inhabitants of the Sumikko Gurashi universe.

The figurine adopts a calm posture, with its arms resting at its sides. Its large black eyes and small mouth give it a slightly anxious expression, fitting for a character who is constantly trying not to attract attention. Despite his name, which means ‘lizard’ in Japanese, Tokage actually conceals a completely different identity.

Standing approximately 7.9 cm tall, this figurine is more compact than many classic POP! figures. Its proportions thus naturally complement the character’s small, rounded design. Origin and character lore

Sumikko Gurashi is a universe created by San-X centred on shy little creatures who prefer to stay in the corners rather than be the centre of attention. Each character has a worry, a secret or a quirk that explains their need to find a quiet, reassuring place.

Tokage appears to be just an ordinary lizard, but he is in fact the last survivor of a family of dinosaurs. Fearing discovery and capture, he hides his true identity from the other Sumikko. His name and appearance therefore serve as a cover, allowing him to live peacefully amongst his friends.

Despite his secret, Tokage has a gentle and cautious nature. He enjoys quiet moments and avoids situations likely to draw attention to him. His reserved behaviour does not, however, prevent him from forming genuine bonds with the other inhabitants of the corners.

Tokage is particularly close to Nisetsumuri, a creature who pretends to be a snail when in fact she is a slug carrying a shell. The two characters thus share a fear that their true nature will be revealed, which strengthens their mutual understanding.

His story also takes on a touching dimension when he is reunited with his mother, a huge sea creature he thought he had lost. This reunion serves as a reminder that behind his unassuming appearance lies a real dinosaur, and deepens one of the most heartfelt stories in the Sumikko Gurashi universe.

This POP! figure effectively captures the character’s dual identity. Its blue silhouette evokes a small aquatic or reptilian creature, whilst the fins on its back subtly hint at its true prehistoric origins.
