Origin and world of the character (Lore)Created by Takashi Okazaki, Afro Samurai evolves in a futuristic, feudal post-apocalyptic world governed by the law of the strongest and the cult of swords. In this universe, the wearer of the "Number 1" headband is considered the equal of a god, untouchable by anyone except the holder of the "Number 2" headband. After witnessing the brutal murder of his father (the former Number 1) by the ruthless Justice as a child, Afro devotes his entire life to the art of swordsmanship and an obsessive quest for revenge. As an adult, now wearing the Number 2 headband, he must battle relentless waves of bounty hunters, elite warriors and cybernetic clones to fight his way to the top and claim the ultimate title.
